Hi there! I hope you’re having a wonderful Holiday Season and if we’re just meeting for the first time today, congratulations on your engagement! My mission is to help you plan your wedding with the least amount of stress possible and within your budget so you can truly enjoy your day with the one you love and all of your guests.
With that said, here are 3 budget saving tips that will help you when you’re on your appointments with wedding professionals who bill by the hour.
- Videography: I would never advise a couple to skimp on their pictures because after the celebration is over, all you have left are your pictures. In fact, I advise my clients to splurge on this expense whenever possible. However, you can budget your videographer’s time and have them capture moments that are the most important for you. For example: You might consider leaving the videography for the ceremony only and capture the reception through photos and ask the photographer to create a montage on CD for you.
- Hair & Make Up: Here’s another service that you may feel you must have with you on site all day, especially for retouches for your wedding photos. However, you may ask your Hair & Make Up team to provide you with a touch up kit to allow your MOH to assist with touching up your hair and makeup throughout the day. The costs for having your stylist and MUA show you or your MOH how to apply your make up will be less costly than having them onsite all day to do it for you.
- Venue: Be very careful about your time. If your wedding and reception is a total of 5 hours, make sure you’re done and out the door within those 5 hours. This will ensure that not only will you save on paying overtime charges on the venue, but you will likely avoid overtime charges with the band and/or DJ, Photographers, Wedding Planners, and all other vendors who are working hourly. I’ve heard stories from brides who didn’t want the party to end and went over their contracted time with their venue understanding that there would be overtime fees; however they didn’t make the connection that the other vendors who are still on the clock are tallying up overtime fees too. What an expensive oversight! I recommend having your event conclude no less than 20 minutes before your contracted end time so your vendors can wrap up and head out and you and your guests can leave out in time as well.
Time management is also effective budget management. You know that saying, “Time is Money!” So don’t waste any money by not budgeting your & your vendors time appropriately.
