3 Tips on Effectively Using Wedding Planning Checklists and Timelines

I am such a control freak when it comes to managing my time. I have to have everything I do planned before I engage in any activities. For example, my husband jokes with me about how I even have to plan my shower preparations everyday: Get my towel, wash cloth, slippers, and leave in bathroom. Locate my toiletries and put where I can reach them, Lay out clothes and accessories, prepare hair appliances, check temp in bathroom, etc. I have to have all of these things ready before I turn the water on and step in. These are checklists I’ve committed to memory. I’m sure you also have a task list that you’ve committed to memory based on the fact you’ve done it so often, it’s a natural course of action for you; maybe not. If not, it’s a good idea to start using to do lists to improve the quality of your life.

The +1 Wedding Invitation Dilemma

by: M. Shannon Hernandez (Guest Blogger)

Now that you are off your high of being a newly engaged couple, it is time to settle down and get to work.  One of the first tasks you will have to tackle is your guest list, because it will determine the number of everything else needed for your wedding and reception.  One of the biggest questions when working on the guest list is who should I invite?  This is sometimes a much more complex question than one first thinks, because most of us have a budget we need to stick within when planning our events.

What Wedding and Lifestyle Blogs Do YOU Love and Recommend WE follow?

I love reading wedding and lifestyle blogs. When you love something you tend to focus a lot of attention on it, right? Well for me, I estimate that I invest more than 300 hours per week looking at wedding gowns after gown, centerpieces after centerpieces, peonies to orchids and reading about trends in the wedding industry. Recently I've been checking out some of our favorite entertainment blogs hosted by some of our area wedding dj's and bands learning about what you guys are grooving to the most at your wedding reception. Hmmm...maybe 300 hours is putting it lightly, hahahaha.

Don't Ignore the RSVP card

Whether I’m working an event or hosting my own, there’s a bit of an issue that causes me a lot of aggravation. Are you coming or not?

“Rèpondez s’il vous plaĂ®t” is a French term that means “please respond” to whether or not you plan to attend an event you were invited to.

Tips to Develop a Realistic Wedding Budget

There’s a lot of talk in the wedding community about couples who aren’t realistically developing their wedding budget and looking for services for their special day with unrealistic expectations on costs. Vendors are seeing a lot of couples asking for a lot of services for a lot less money than what these services actually cost. You are shopping blind without guidance on what to expect when shopping for wedding related services and are left feeling pretty bad when you realize you can't afford them. But it’s not your fault. How would you know what anything really cost unless someone (or something) you esteem to be a trusted source tells you? Well I am going to share a couple of tips with you that will help you develop a realistic wedding budget while using the tools provided for free by some of the popular wedding websites.

Beware of the Double Dipping Wedding Planner

I came to the realization that this is an ongoing problem that tarnishes the reputations of great wedding planners everywhere – Wedding Planners who charge a fee to their clients and inflate the prices of their vendors to receive a commission, aka a kick back. It is my hope that I can help you filter through the nonsense to get to the wedding planner who has your best interest in mind, so here are a few tips to keep in mind to help you make a wise decision when choosing your wedding planner:
